IRC server and channel change

Hello folks: I don't know how many people occasionally or regularly
come by the #speakup channel on freenode.net but we have changed the
channel to the oftc.net server. The reason is because recently I set
up a couple of tor exit nodes and it seems that freenode.net is not
tor friendly. Had I realized that earlier I probably would have moved
before. Anyway, the original channel is still up on freenode.net but I
won't be monitoring it any longer. If you wish you are welcome to come
and join us on #speakup on the oftc.net server system.

Any IRC client will do. The most popular is probably irssi, and this
specific client works very well with Speakup. Hope this helps.

Steve: As Kyle states get/install irssi and then once you start it, just type:

/connect irc.oftc.net
/join speakup

That should do it other than setting up the environment of irssi the
way you like it.

IRC is text only. I have heard that there is something called Matrix
that is supposed to allow audio as well as text, and I think there will
be a client that can run from a shell if there isn't one already, but
this is something that is still in development, and it's not IRC, which
can't do any kind of voice chat as far as I know.

OFTC via Tor, they have been known to block large blocks of exit nodes at a time
when they detect large unwarranted spikes in traffic, for an extended period of
time.
