Hi, all,

I followed Kirk's advice and moved the alsa-puls-conf file out of
service and it made no difference. When I typed:

ps aux | grep pulse, I got the following on the standard out:

112 3335 0.0 0.3 233144 6232 ? S<l 14:04 0:00
/usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog

after rebooting. I didn't log in to a gnome session.

Thank you,

Craig Martin

I think the first field is the process number, try killing that number
instead.
