Using console text editors with Speakup

While this is not about VI or vim, I notice in nano when running
search-and-replace, even when it finds items, nano will say "not found" I
suppose I should also post on a help nano list. This seems quite missleading.
Thanks in advance

Dietmer,
Look at .joerc file in your home directory there is an entry that controls
what is displayed on the status line and here you can remove row and collumn
display if you don't want them. I believe there is a clock display there
also you may not want to talk a lot.

Be sure to read how to change entries in .joerc as it's a matter of indents
in some cases.

Hello Dietmar: I don't use joe so all I can tell you is find where the
row and column numbers are shown and then mark that area to be
silent. You set a silence are by placing your reading cursor at the
first position of the window you wish to silence and hitting
speakup-f1. Move the reading cursor to the end of the area to be
silenced and hit speakup-f1 again. Then you do speakup-f4 to silence
that window/area. The details should be discussed in the speakup users
guide on the web site.
Good luck.

grep can help cut the boring out.
grep -in status .joerc will show all lines with line numbers in .joerc
with status on them and be case-insensitive about that search too. If
another editor can be opened on .joerc with the first line number of
interest then configuration improvement can happen more quickly with
less boredom.
Use of sed can be quite effective with the correct sed script too.
